I feel bad about my shape. Is it just age, menopause, poor habits or a combo?
Block Therapy helps with size and shape by restoring the natural alignment and space within the body that is often lost over time due to various factors such as aging, poor posture, injuries, surgeries, body mechanics, hormonal changes and emotional trauma. As time ages us, the body naturally spirals forwards and loses its ability to maintain proper alignment, which can lead to compressed tissues, restricted movement, and a shift in posture and shape. Simply said, we feel stiff, tired, sore, and not at our best.
We’re commonly told that hours at the gym are the solution to looking and feeling better—whether through building muscle or stretching. However, Block Therapy offers a much more well-rounded system that combines exercise, therapy, and meditation. How cool is that?

Examples of changes with Block Therapy.
While going to the gym can be part of a healthy lifestyle, what’s often overlooked is what you’re actually building. If your body is already out of alignment, you might end up strengthening or stretching muscles in a way that reinforces an imbalanced structure. The more effective approach is to first realign the body, create space and flexibility in the fascia, and then build strength on a more stable foundation. Does that make sense?
Or, even worse, you might spend so much time focusing on a specific area, like your abs/midsection, trying to reduce its size, without realizing that a big part of the issue could be compression. When the body is out of alignment (think of your car alignment) and compressed (push the top & bottom of a balloon), there’s literally nowhere for the midsection to go but out. No amount of crunches or spot-targeted exercises will fix the underlying issue of restricted space and fascia tension.
When your body is in a compressed state, the fascia that surrounds your muscles, organs, and bones is tight, creating internal pressure. This pressure forces the body to compensate, often causing certain areas—like the abdomen or lower back—to appear larger or more pronounced. Instead of working to flatten or shrink these areas through exercise and diet alone, it’s more effective to first:
release the compression
restore proper alignment
create the space that your body needs to function optimally
Block Therapy works by targeting deep layers of fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds muscles, organs, and bones. Fascia is like the skin of each of our trillion cells so it is a big deal! By using specialized techniques to release tension and restore space in these areas, Block Therapy helps realign the body, improve posture, and encourage freer movement. This approach also helps to alleviate the discomfort or pain caused by structural imbalances, improving overall mobility and flexibility. A WIN-WIN!
Furthermore, the emotional and physical trauma stored in the body’s tissues can contribute to tightness and distortions in size and shape. Block Therapy helps release these emotional blockages, allowing the body to heal on a deeper level and regain its natural form.

**Sometimes, a body can look fit and healthy on the outside, but the person might still be experiencing pain, discomfort, or even issues like a digestive disorder or prolapse. This often signals underlying tension and compression within the body that may not be visible. It’s important to remember that true health isn't just about appearance—it’s about how your body functions and feels on the inside as well.
This topic is worth a deeper exploration, and I’ll cover it more in a future post, but I just wanted to mention it here as a reminder: even if you look great on the outside, if you're dealing with discomfort or structural imbalances, it could be a sign that your fascia is still holding tension or your body isn't aligned properly. Addressing these deeper issues is just as important for long-term health and well-being! Stay tuned for more insights to come.
